Five Fun Christmas Traditions

  • Pose for a Picture

Strike a pose with your family during holiday gatherings. Make this an annual Holiday tradition!

  • Give an Annual Ornament
Handmade Keepsake Ornaments will be treasured every year while trimming the tree. Start the collection this year and add to the collection annually. Make an ornament commemorating each year for each family member.

  • Break-through Christmas Morning Tradition
Wrap the open doorway to the living room so the children have to break through the wrapping paper to get to the gifts under the tree.

  • The Annual Christmas Lights Tour
Plan a Christmas Lights tour for one night in December. Pop a couple bags of popcorn and pack a few snacks and drive around until everyone gets sleepy.

  • Elf on the Shelf
The elf stops by on the Friday after Thanksgiving and stays until Christmas Eve.  Each night the elf flies back to the North Pole to report the children's behavior to Santa, then flies back each morning and hides in a new spot. You should see a marked improvement in the children's behavior when the little guy is around.

  • Pajamas on Christmas Eve
Many families have a fun tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve.  Our family does this but the present is always the same - pajamas. The kids always know what it is, but it’s still fun to see what kind of PJ's they’ll get to wear on Christmas morning.

  • Christmas Play
Your kids don’t need to sign up for the community theater or your church’s Christmas pageant to have fun acting out the Christmas story.  It’s not difficult to create your own simple script, but you can find plenty online to download for free. Here is a great collection of scripts.
